The eclectic design of this Art Deco Teapot makes it one-of-a-kind! It is both stylish and compact, with a full 200mL capacity! The fact that it has neither a protruding spout nor handle makes it very travel friendly in that it packs well and is less delicate. The twine-wrapped handles on the rim in combination with the inset lid and sieve spout make it much easier to maneuver than a gaiwan. We find it to be replete with both a funky retro personality and practicality — and at a great price! And it's a perfect match with our Celadon Tea Cup!

It has a classic light green celadon type glaze that is semi-transparent, and will develop a classic crackle with use over time. The sand colored ceramic body is visible at the ridges in the decorative design of the teapot, as well as its rim. It has a glazed interior. Only the inner lid and the "feet" of the teapot are unglazed. Celadon is known to retain heat well, which makes it particularly suitable for hardier and tightly rolled tea types. We find that teapots with more spherical ( as opposed wide, squat) body shapes offer optimal brewing results.

We discovered this teapot when we visited a local tea merchant who has been importing Pu Er tea to Taiwan for decades. He literally has warehouses full of tea and teaware in a seemingly very unsystematic manner. In a word, it's a tea geek's dream come true! He just happened to pull one of these pots out of a box to show us a random sample of his goods. We took it home and have used it for a while, and it is now our dedicated picnic teapot!

Second Review for Second purchase of this teapot

Here is my 2nd review for this teapot. In the first one, I said I planned to buy more--for myself and as a gift. So far, now, I've bought one more, along with some tea. I just love using it. I would like to get more information about the pot--who makes it and where are they? There is a maker's stamp on the bottom. Is it made from a mold? Where is the clay from?
For me, it's a perfect size for a morning (or anytime) cup of tea. I mean not luxuriant tea that you'd brew in a very small pot.
I usually brew three times or so, depending on the tea.
This is pot is so unusually aesthetically appealing and "soft" to the touch.
I don't think anyone will be disappointed with it.

One of my favorites

I have a lot of teapots; I mean a lot. This one gets used second only to the other eco-cha clay teapot I have. I use this when I want a little bit more than the clay pot holds. It retains the heat well and the wrapped area helps me avoid burning my fingers. It still gets hot, but I can hold it long enough to pour my tea. And the tea from this pot tastes great. Some of my other pots seem to affect the taste of the tea, not always in a bad way, this one does not.

Even my fussy husband likes this teapot

I love the look and feel of this teapot, and the size is just right for certain teas. It's a diversion from the yishing and jian shui teapots that I use mostly for Puerh tea.
My fussy husband is a native of Kyoto, living in the USA with me, and will only use a Japanese teapot, but he smiled and liked this one.
It sometimes is hot to the touch, and the wrapped string doesn't help, but maybe I've used water that's too hot or filled the pot too much.
I highly recommend it and plan to buy more as a gift and to keep (in case I break the one I have).

Excellent quality

The look is exceptional. Does remind me of the 1930 and the quality is excellent. Works well for the tea and brews just enough for a large tea cup full. Well worth the investment!

unraveled

I love this little pot but soon after I started to use it the chord that is wrapped around the little handles started to come undone. It doesn't keep me from using it, just unfortunate to have it fall apart so easily.

Hi Lisa,
Thanks for letting us know about this unfortunate anomaly, and sorry about the inconvenience! These pots are quite popular and we use one almost everyday. Hopefully you've received your replacement that we included in your subsequent order of tea. Hope it is serving you well!
