This clay teapot features the classic design of a gong-fu teapot, offering a stately appearance as well as optimal function. It has a very snug fitting lid, and is perfectly symmetrical all around — making it very ergonomically friendly. It also has a built-in ceramic screen at the spout on the inside of the pot to prevent leaf obstruction.

Brewing whole leaf loose leaf tea gong-fu style not only makes the best tea, but it also embodies a culture that has developed over many centuries of practicing the art of tea. In our modern lifestyle, it's also an opportunity to sit down with friends and enjoy a social ritual that can be appreciated on whatever level we wish to embody it. The beauty of tea is that it meets you where you are at, and has deep cultural roots to be explored for a lifetime.

With a relatively large capacity of 230ml, this clay teapot can accommodate a tea service for at least six people. It can also be used to brew a large pitcher or thermos full of tea to get the best quality results by brewing gong-fu style. Simply brew the tea as you would gong-fu style, for short intervals, and pour each brew into the vessel that you will drink throughout the day!

  • Classic gong-fu style design
  • Internal sieve keeps leaves inside pot
  • Large 230ml volume allows brewing for six people

Clay, but the "seasoning" instructions worked for me!

This is a very beautiful, well made teapot. So much depends on aesthetics, and for me this pot harmonizes with the tea leaves very well. I followed the suggestion to slowly bring to a full boil the new teapot in a large boiler, and added some "Gunpowder" tea I had and let it steep and slowly cool. It makes wonderful tea with no clay taste!

Clay

Prime the tea pot with boiling and cooling a few times, but the clay smell remains after a few weeks of brewing tea. It just doesn't go away and the clay smell ruin the tea.
I prefer Yixing clay and Jian shui clay still.
